Wildlife Wednesday – Northern Pacific Rattlesnake
The Northern Pacific rattlesnake is the most common rattlesnake in California. These venomous snakes may warn you when you're too close by rattling their tails, but they don't always rattle, so always stay aware of your surroundings while riding or walking around the park.
If you see a rattlesnake on a busy trail, in a staging area, or inside a building, please notify a Ranger so it can be safely relocated. If the snake is in a natural area and not posing a risk to visitors, give it plenty of space and let it continue on its way.
Remember to stay on designated trails, watch where you step, and never try to approach or handle a rattlesnake. Ride safe and respect our wildlife!
