After a very long week, last week we were incredibly happy to have our Lake Orion residents safely back home in their community.

I want to sincerely thank Corey Walter and the team at Accent Care Hospice along with Katz and the entire PACE Southeast Michigan team for their partnership and quick response during the evacuation process. Your support meant a great deal to our residents and staff.

Thank you to our Orion leadership team, corporate office staff, and every administrator and DON across our Pomeroy communities who welcomed Orion residents into their buildings and cared for them so compassionately throughout the week.

This situation required an enormous amount of teamwork, flexibility, communication, and attention to detail. I am incredibly proud of our teams for stepping up the way they did and always keeping our residents first. Here are some photos of our residents returning!!

Today looked a little different than your typical day in senior living operations.

We took our team to the Sysco Test Kitchen and spent time together learning, cooking, and honestly just enjoying being in the room with each other. I had the chance to walk the team through Middle Eastern cuisine, not just the flavors, but the health benefits behind it and how food plays such a big role in the lives of the people we serve.

And that’s exactly the point.

At Pomeroy Living, we don’t believe great care comes from policies sitting in a binder. It comes from investing in people, giving them experiences, and helping them understand the “why” behind what they do every day.

You can teach a recipe.
You can’t fake passion.

When our teams understand food, culture, nutrition, and connection, it shows up in our communities in ways you can’t measure on a survey.

Better meals.
Better engagement.
Better care.

This is what makes us different.

We don’t just talk about culture, we build it, sometimes around a prep table with olive oil, fresh herbs, and a lot of opinions on how things should be seasoned.

And yes, there were strong opinions.

March 8th through 14th is National Administrators Week, and we want to recognize two leaders who truly understand what this role demands.

Thom and Manda both maintain their Administrator licenses, and that matters. It means they have walked the floors, sat through the surveys, taken the late night calls, navigated family meetings, staffing crises, compliance pressure, and budget realities. They know exactly what our Administrators face because they have lived it.

As COO and Director of Operations, they are not leading from a distance. They lead with firsthand knowledge, real accountability, and a clear understanding of what it takes to run a community the right way. They push for excellence because they know the standard. They support our teams because they have been in their shoes.

Leadership in senior living is not theoretical. It is practical, regulated, emotional, and relentless. Thom and Manda continue to hold themselves to that standard by keeping their licenses active and staying grounded in the work.

This week we recognize all Administrators, and we are especially proud to recognize Thom and Manda for leading with experience, integrity, and heart.
