ATTIC CLASSIC: Mechanical Servants were an underground new-wave/synth-pop duo from Saratoga Springs, made up of Pamela Kifer and Victoria Harper. With each of them providing vocals, along with guitar, bass, synthesizer and even typewriter, the pair crafted a playful, minimalist sound that blended post-punk energy with early electronic textures. Sparse instrumentation emphasized their quirky, expressive vocals over simple song arrangements.

In 1980, their only recording was released on the Mystery Toast label, a 4-track 12-inch vinyl EP titled 'MIN X MATCH.' The EP's songs showcased the duo's inventive stripped-down approach to songwriting and lyrical themes.

Although 'MIN X MATCH' only saw a limited pressing and modest distribution at the time, the record has since become a sought-after item among collectors of early DIY synth and post-punk music. Its rarity and lo-fi charm have solidified Mechanical Servants' spot as a fascinating footnote in this area's alternative local music landscape.
