Breath Upper Left
Where science meets spirit. Yoga and breathwork classes inspired by nature. The yogis say that the Atman, or the soul, dwells in the upper left chest.

Full Moon Breathwork in final summer glory is this Saturday 💦
I recently had the chance to be guided through a breathwork session in the water aka a “wet breath” session. Breathing face down, through a snorkel, supported by floaties and the arms of my dear friend & trusted facilitator Maree, all distractions slipped away. Here, water muffles the sound and the buoyancy adds an element of comfort and release.
To me, a wet breath session like this is similar but even better than a sensory deprivation tank because we have someone holding space for us. It’s a life-affirming, life-giving feeling to be held and cared for while you meet what’s inside. A facilitator is a proxy parent figure and when we are walked into a meditative state of awareness with their support & guidance, we have a chance to rewrite (and re-right) our relationship to self, others, and life.
As someone who recoiled at just the thought of being touched (but also deeply craved it) just six years ago, being able to trust and feel in such an intimate way is major. I’m grateful to have a practice that continues to meet me where I am and for skilled practitioners who have held space for me with acceptance, presence, and encouragement.
While wet breathwork may be a deep dive, you can experience the core practice in the familiarity and comfort of your own space with virtual facilitation. And if you can’t make it live for Saturday‘s session, I’ll be sending a recording of the breathwork portion & journaling prompts. Registration is right here ⬇️ ✨
