Helping those who want to restore their metabolism and lean into the beauty of their own design

04/25/2023

not the most glamorous of pregnancy announcements BUT we’re officially halfway there with baby #4 and I decided it was worthy of a post!

things have obviously been a bit busier around the house and I’ve felt like posting here during this season just isn’t the priority. I am loving getting to pour my energy into my current/future clients as well as taking time to read and research

I am constantly amazed by what the body is able to do, especially during a time like 🤰

I’ll definitely plan on sharing some more on what I’ve been doing this pregnancy to nourish me + the babe

‼️ your hormones are not causing the problem ‼️

The issue is what prompted those to be out of whack in the first place - you guessed it: STRESS

Whether it’s internal or external stress, the body is going to respond the same way.

First, cortisol (the stress hormone) will rise. Cortisol enables everything else so that we can SURVIVE the stress. Mainly, raising blood sugar levels so that there is quick energy accessible. To keep glucose up, the body then begins to break down its own tissues + blow through nutrients.

When we are chronically stressed, we are in the fight or flight mode. All of the other metabolic processes take a backseat until the stressed situation is completed.

Because of the rise in cortisol, blood sugar and overall energy - it is easy to FEEL GOOD while in an elevated state.

But the stressed state isn’t meant to be maintained for long periods of time. When the body is burning through all of its stores, it becomes difficult to ever replenish them. And when there is a moment to eat, if the stressed state continues, it will inhibit digestion + absorption of what’s actually being consumed

💨 Are your workouts working or are you feeling the cortisol high?

💨 Coffee is a pro-metabolic food but isn’t meant to be consumed on a consistent basis

💨 Are you procrastinating on deadlines because you like the rush at the end? Do you love looking at the news and updates on social media?

💨 Hanger is usually a sign of a blood sugar crash which would induce an entire new cycle of stress

💨 Continuous sleep throughout the night indicates a stable blood sugar. Frequent wakings can point to an imbalance of blood sugar.

Stress isn’t going away any time soon, but what we do with stressors and how we respond can really impact overall health!

A few SIMPLE things to remember this holiday season:

🌟 EAT breakfast - eating a balanced breakfast will help keep blood sugar stable + provide fuel to the body for the day. Don’t skip because you are wanting to “save” your calories for later in the day

🌟Don’t stress - obsessing over what you did or did not eat can be more damaging to the body + gut than the food itself. Sit down, chew your food, and enjoy every bite 👏🏼

🌟 Food is a BASIC NEED. It’s not a reward or punishment, and it’s not optional

🌟Stay hydrated - this doesn’t look like chugging tons of water. The body needs minerals to be able to USE the water properly. Try adding a pinch of sea salt to your water + add in a yummy adrenal cocktail when you can

🌟 Enjoy the time - be present, put the phone down, and rest

Sending lots of love this holiday season🎄

We cannot expect the body to do ALL of the things if we aren’t giving it the fuel that it needs to do so.

The body will ALWAYS prioritize keeping you alive, aka a beating heart and working lungs, and will put digestion, fertility, and overall healing on the back burner.

Signs you may not be eating enough include:

Low basal body temp, cravings, constipation, sleep issues, fatigue, hair loss + brittle nails, frequent illness, anxiety, or irregular cycles

Many of the clients I work with are eating far less than what their bodies require. I highly recommend tracking food intake for at least a few days to see what your starting average typically is.

Lastly, don’t forget to address STRESS because it demands energy from the body!
