Mapping Q is back for fall! You asked for it and we have delivered more workshops with RISO printmaking. This fall’s FREE workshop series is designed to introduce LGBTQIA+ youth to the risograph printing process as an art form through which they can express their unique identities and life experiences. The nature of the riso printing process enables the students to make multiple prints of their work so that their art can be shared, traded, exhibited, and sold, expanding the reach of their creative output. Registration is open now! Visit https://forms.gle/MxEfUMXrsRMsdn2u6or scan the QR code. Classes start September 10th, 2024.
Mapping Q is excited to launch our Fall series of workshops, celebrating our 10-year anniversary! We will be on the road with new art activities at sites across the UA campus and Tucson. All workshops are free, serving LGBTQIA+ youth and students (ages 13-24). Mapping Q workshops are designed and facilitated by UA Museum of Art education staff and interns, with sessions focused on q***r health, wellbeing, pride, and resiliency. Some sites require you to register in advance, with others offering drop in/pop-up art activities. Follow us on IG to stay up to date on all programs and events this season.
Special thanks to the UA School of Art’s Book Art and Letterpress Lab for their underwriting of the Mapping Q program and to the LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund held at the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona for their generous support of the Mapping Q program.

New Mapping Q series (online/in-person)! We are so excited to offer a NEW workshop, “Queer Futures”, in collaboration with UA’s RISO club, March 22- April 26, 4-6PM. Mapping Q is a program of the University of Arizona Museum of Art that invites LGBTQ+ youth (ages 13-24 years) to explore identity through art. During this workshop series, “Queer Futures” we will ask: How can we care for ourselves and others as we imagine new ways of being and doing? What does another world look like? What role does art play in imagining, creating, and nurturing the future world?
UA School of Art students will help facilitate and mentor youth through their artmaking process. During online and in-person workshops, we will be learning about contemporary LGBTQ+ artists, q***r futurism, and will make RISO prints to visually communicate our new ideas. These RISO prints will be included in this year's Mapping Q exhibition at the UAMA, opening June 1, 2024. Registration is free and open to LGBTQ+ identified youth ages 13-24.
REGISTRATION is open until full. Space is limited! Registered participants will be emailed Zoom meeting link. For more information or to RSVP: https://forms.gle/tPxUyXd2nQHBMCcc7
