BorderLinks is beyond proud to announce that we’ve been chosen to receive a LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund Grant this year!

With this support, we will be able to realize a long-held dream: running an educational program for q***r and trans movement leaders of color rooted in the Tucson area. Border and migrant justice are profoundly intersectional issues; by bringing together organizers from across our region’s movement ecosystem, we are nurturing the diverse coalitions needed to transform borderlands into places of thriving for all.

Thank you to the Advisory Board of the Alliance Fund, and to , for sharing our belief in the power of popular education as well as the need for cross-organizational learning.

BorderLinks se siente sumamente orgulloso de anunciar que hemos sido seleccionados para recibir una subvención del LGBTQ+ Alliance Fund este año.

Gracias a este apoyo, podremos hacer realidad un sueño largamente anhelado: lanzar un programa educativo dirigido a líderes de color dentro de los movimientos q***r y trans, con arraigo en el área de Tucson. On Sunday, March 22nd BorderLinks is collaborating with students from the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University on a daylong conference about our “Borderlands Future”. During the event graduate and undergraduate students will be presenting their own research on the pressing issues facing our region. We are also honored to have Nellie Jo David presenting a Keynote Talk!
 
This event will be held at the Global Justice Center in Tucson (225 E. 25th St.) from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and is open to the public. The keynote address will begin at 10:45 a.m. and at noon we will be offering a complimentary lunch.

Este domingo 22 de marzo, BorderLinks colaborará con estudiantes del Barrett Honors College de la Universidad Estatal de Arizona en una conferencia sobre nuestro programa “Futuros Fronterizos”. Durante el evento, los estudiantes presentarán sus propias investigaciones sobre temas urgentes que afectan a nuestra región. Join us at Las Milpitas (2405 S Cottonwood Ln, Tucson, AZ 85713) on Saturday, February 21st at 7pm (doors 6:30pm) for an outdoor screening of the award-winning, Emmy-nominated documentary The Hand That Feeds.

The Hand That Feeds follows the late Mahoma Lopez and his fellow undocumented coworkers at an NYC restaurant chain as they organize an independent union to combat abusive working conditions. The unionizing deli workers receive support and mentorship from the , including organizer .aran , who will be joining us via Zoom after the film for a Q&A.

This is an outdoor event, and there will be freshly-popped popcorn!
