Q***r Creative Justice Workshop with D'Lo
9am-12pm @ Catalina Room, SUMC
Join us on a beautiful Saturday morning for this unique opportunity! D’Lo has created this workshop geared specifically for the LGBTQIQTSSGL community with an emphasis on writing and performing around gender presentation and orientation. This workshop is intended for both non-writer and non-actors as well as self-defined writers and actors. For most q***r people, being seen as human is oftentimes a daily challenge. The burden of being q***r bodied or q***r minded causes health issues manifesting in both the mental and physical realms. In this workshop, D’Lo asks participants to be fearlessly introspective around personal health and spiritual growth. The participant will share, write and perform their personal stories, and through a series of creative exercises, will also engage in artistic conversations relating to their unique experience of identifying as q***r. International Transgender Day of Remembrance
5:30pm @ Old Main, then procession to Wingspan
The International Transgender Day of Remembrance is a time to honor and mourn those who have died in the past year, and raise awareness of hate crimes against transgender people and people who are targeted because of their gender identity and/or gender expression. The outdoor vigil at Old Main on the UA campus will be followed by a procession down University to Fourth Avenue and a reception at Wingspan.
