Chopper this, chopper that! Here’s who really invented the chopper drop: Hungarian designer Paul Jaray, in 1921, with his J-Rad (!!) bicycle. Looking for an aerodynamic riding position, this recumbent (feet-forward) bicycle used a treadle-cable drive instead of pedals, but its unusual design ensured only about 2000 were built.
