Paradise Parrot Rescue

I told Brody it was bedtime and he gave me a totally blank look like he didn’t even understand me. I told him a second time and he just stood on one leg and floofed up at me. The third time I told him, he put his head down as if to tell me who was really boss so I carefully backed away and decided to come back later 😂
It took a little longer than usual, but he’s safely tucked away for the night and I have all my fingers! Win win for both of us 😂

These aren’t my favorite updates to post but I know so many of you care about her so here goes…
Polly is 58 and really starting to show her age. I weigh her weekly and this week, she showed significant and unexpected weight loss. She’s eating her chop and pellets well and still has bright eyes but I can tell she’s not quite herself. We are going to the vet to see what they say but I always try to remind myself that she is old and nature will, at some point, have its way. l will keep all of you posted.
It has been and continues to be such a learning curve having a senior parrot. There are so many things I didn’t know about geriatric bird care before adopting Polly and I’m grateful for all the knowledge I’ve gained. She is a bright light in my life and even though she doesn’t like me, I will always love her ❤️

As you know…Garbo finally got his freedom ride yesterday…thanks to a supporter who donated 2k and the rest of you!!!!! Thank you!!!

It killed me on the inside just a bit because as you saw by the video the little goober was finally coming out of his shell and not sitting on his perch depressed and not moving. I hated the thought of bringing him back to the rescue where once again he would be surrounded by other birds in unfamiliar surroundings. I was afraid it would send him right back into the shell it took him so long to come out of. I ended up calling a friend that I know very well…told him the situation and asked if he would consider fostering so that Garbo could go directly into a calm, loving home. He agreed. I followed up last night. He said that although Garbo is a little shy…he is doing well.

I normally do not use fosters, but when pulling a baby like this…i honestly think it’s better for them. After seeing his crazy, wonderful personality yesterday I didn’t want to kill it again.

Spent my Saturday cleaning cages.
This week has been hectic and I didn’t get to them yesterday. It’s a full house here. Conures, ringnecks, budgies, lovebirds, African grey, Amazon, and a macaw all available for adoption. We will be closing adoptions in a couple weeks so get your application in now 😉

Meet Danny Boy. Danny Boy is a beautiful and very talkative African Grey. He has all of his feathers but he does have a gimpy foot which was there from birth. He gets alone really well and even perches just fine. Message me if you woyld like to meet Danny Boy!
