The rains were excessive earlier in the year, but now the heat is excessive with no rain! To keep a beautiful green lawn, as illustrated in the picture below, you must water daily! On Bermuda grass you will need 1 to 2 inches of water each week during dry periods. If your bermuda is already yellow or turning brown, it can be revived with proper watering and then we recommend fertilizing it after it starts to green up. Zoysia needs deep watering, 3 times a week. Fescue needs to be watered twice a day to keep it alive and growing. Since fescue is a cool season grass, this type of heat is very harmful to it. Under the best conditions you will lose 25% of your fescue during the summer months. This year could be more! The good news is that during the fall, we can overseed the fescue areas and restore the turf!! More on overseeding in the future....

We have had several calls about shrubs looking bad after the recent frigid temperatures. Freeze damage is very possible with -13 degrees!!!
