Ever wondered about IEP Facilitation or Mediation and whether others would recommend it? Take a look at some of the reviews left about our services.
IEP Facilitation:
- “The parent said that it was the best IEP meeting she had ever been a part of”
- “The facilitator was great. We were able to communicate freely and with respect. The team certainly felt that the temperature of the participants was better than in previous meetings. Thank you.”
Mediation:
- “The mediator was very thorough and did an amazing job of keeping everyone on track. They really encouraged the parent to speak their truth and get to the core of their frustrations with the school.”
- “The mediator was very calm and attentive. They were great at establishing communication rules. We had met with the family twice before, and it wasn’t ever contentious. We just could not agree to placement.”
- “They were fair and consistent with both parties. They explained everything very well and let us both have time to talk.”

IEP Facilitation is a collaborative dispute resolution service designed to intervene and prevent issues, not just respond to them.
You don’t have to wait until something goes wrong to request facilitation. If you anticipate a difficult conversation during an IEP meeting, a neutral facilitator can help guide the discussion, improve communication, and reduce the risk of conflict.
This service is voluntary, meaning that either parents or schools can request facilitation, and both parties must agree before it is scheduled. It’s all about creating a space for clear, respectful, and productive conversations.

SERC staff are having a summer full of adventures, memories, and new experiences! This week, we will introduce our final two SERC staff members and share some of the adventures they are up to this summer. Today, we are introducing Alisa Holuby, SERC's Program Manager.
Alisa's favorite summer treat: watermelon with salt or a Braum's Butterfinger mix.
Alisa's favorite summer vacation: Anywhere with a beach!! She would love to make it to Greece one day.
Alisa's favorite thing about her job: Supporting families and schools on special education topics, helping teams reach resolution, and understanding each other just a little better is why she does this work. Alisa says if she can help someone walk away with a little more clarity or confidence in the special education world, that’s a good day.
Thank you for all you do, Alisa!
