A slight misconception is that you have to be 62 years old to get a Reverse Mortgage (RM). That is only for a FHA RM and even then, the spouse can be younger. Proprietary RM’s have a minimum age of 55+.

Just a reminder that Reverse Mortgages can also be used by 55+ year old buyers who are purchasing a home. It acts like a normal purchase money loan, but requires a larger down payment.
A Reverse Mortgage does not require monthly payments for the rest of the owners life as long as the home is their primary residence.
