I think sometimes, deep down, we know our life isn’t fully the story we want to create… maybe there is one or more areas that feels lacking.

I, Beth, was feeling this way recently, and then I set out to clean a closet in our house, as we are prepping to sell our home. It was my office closet that housed all of my past creative works. As I sorted through old writings, old projects, and saw things I formerly created- I grew irritable. After a little while of feeling this irritation, it finally hit me that feeling irritated when looking at good former things that used to make me feel the most “me,” didn’t seem right. So I paused; I considered it, and went to my own personal source of faith. I prayed about it. And something then washed over me: I was irritable that day because my spirit was RESTLESS. It hadn’t been creating like I used to. I felt that North Star within my spirit breathe, “It’s time to create again…”

And as I have started to do so, health is coming back to my mind and spirit. It has really felt profound to know that because life has been more demanding, I let something that was truly “me” fall away. And I just needed to make a little bit of space for something simple again: the act of creating something… this actually deeply bears rest to my person.

So I want to challenge you today: Pick one of the 5 foundational health building blocks in the graphic here for you and your family this week: Just choose 1. And think of a way you can introduce something good for 1 of these 5 building blocks into you and your family’s health:

Maybe take a walk or go somewhere in nature together. Maybe choose one night a week that is a “NO SCREENS” night and pull out a game, book, puzzle, or watch something positive as a fam together instead. Maybe just go to bed earlier. Or create something as an act of rest. Or draw your teen a hot bath if they’ve had a hard day and just turn on some music and don’t make them talk about it: just let their nervous system “reset.” Or invite your kids in and create a healthy dinner or lunch. Or call up that friend who is positive to your family and intentionally set a time to connect…

Choose just 1 building block today and go for it!
Your soul will thank you :)
