Praying for the family of officer Sam Lively, as well as my Tyler PD family.

On April 25th, around 6pm, Tyler Police responded to a traffic crash on Troup Hwy. just north of Loop 323.

The investigation showed that a motorcycle rider was traveling south on Troup Hwy. in the outside lane. Another vehicle was traveling south in the inside lane as they approached Loop 323. The vehicle changed lanes and impacted the motorcycle.

The rider was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. Officer Sam Lively was an off-duty Tyler Police Officer. He recently graduated from the police academy and completed field training.

“Officer Lively was an amazing young man that wanted to serve the Tyler Community. He will be missed by everyone that had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow officer's.”

This case remains under investigation.

I once again had the honor to go on mission to Uganda with Rock of Living Water Ministries last month. This ministry is based in Tyler and was started by my wife and I in 2018, she serves at the Ministry Director. For several years it has operated a home for orphaned and abandoned babies as well as a church on site in Rwenjeru Village outside of Mbarara Uganda. Currently there are 25 babies residing in the baby home. Most have been abandoned, one that was left to die in a pit latrine after birth, some found living in a forest and others sent by the Ugandan "CPS" after abandonment. While there, we also launched, and had a ribbon cutting celebration for the Rock of Living Water Christian School that was recently built on the property. This school will open this month (February) and already has over 50 students enrolled. This endeavor is no small undertaking and will need lots of ongoing prayers and support.
