UA is proud to be a Leader in Me school, where both students and staff learn and live out the 7 Habits of Successful Student Leaders. Today we are highlighting Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw.

At University Academy, we teach students to Sharpen the Saw by caring for their whole selves. When self‑criticism shows up, our scholars practice three simple habits:

1️⃣ Self‑Kindness — Speaking to themselves with the same compassion they show others.
2️⃣ Mindfulness — Pausing, breathing, and noticing what’s happening in the moment.
3️⃣ Connectedness — Reaching out to peers and trusted adults so they never feel alone.

We’re proud of how our students build balance, confidence, and leadership from the inside out. 💛

At University Academy, we teach using the PBL process and our staff and students study the Leader in Me program. Both encourage growth of leadership traits.
One of our campus Directors loves Simon Sinek, and shares this quote summing up leadership:
"Leadership is not about being in charge. It's about taking care of those in your charge. Gratitude turns what we have into enough, and when we lead with a grateful heart, we inspire others to do the same."
