Good morning! This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us all rejoice and be glad in it.
We are getting closer to another time in which we can join together and be grateful for the many blessings we have been given as we worship together. Having the time to join as brothers and sisters in Christ, celebrating our faith, and encouraging each other in our journey makes each week so much easier.
From our Bible study this week we had a short discussion regarding those that are not blessed with the opportunity to learn of God and the promises for our lives. As I was reflecting on that issue in the world today I thought of how grateful we should be to have been raised in the faith.
Brothers and Sisters, we are being catechized daily by a world telling us we are not enough or we need to be more. We’re told life is unfair, everything is utterly broken and that the worst is still ahead.
But that is not the whole story.
Because in this moment, especially this moment, there is grace. There is goodness. There is something, and often someone, worth giving thanks for.
When I am given the opportunity to share with someone I’d never met before nor likely will see again, I was reminded: Hope is not found in the absence of hardship, but in the presence of gratitude.
So today, don’t wait for everything to be fixed before giving thanks.
Start with one thing. Name it. Give thanks for it. And discover that in recognizing some goodness around you in life, you’ll see even more for which to give thanks.
Today is your day. Live Inspired.
Monday Morning Forecast
Good morning Bascom family and followers! This past weekend we were blessed with a unique opportunity. We watched young boys overcome fear and uncertainty as they experienced a rope “monkey” bridge. After their initial trip across their confidence began to replace anxious uncertainty.
However, that wasn’t all, we were allowed a glimpse of fathers, proud of the confidence their sons were learning. The initial hesitation of the boys was overcome and the dads were encouraging them to embrace that confidence.
As I was reflecting on the events of the weekend, it occurred to me that we are like these young boys. We are uncertain, timid, and sometimes fearful as we face new challenges in life. Yet, as children of God, I can’t help but picture our Heavenly Father smiling with pride in watching us tackle the trials before us with the confidence we find in our relationship with Him.
Just like these fathers that encouraged their sons to “grow”, we grow when we encourage others in their faith.
What a blessed weekend of Christian fellowship and encouragement to share our faith with others.
Have a blessed week! I so look forward to our next time in each other’s presence!
