What an incredible day at Athens Karate School!

This past Saturday, our dedicated students from Tyler Karate Academy joined Hanshi John Shipes for an intense pre-test session for those gearing up for their brown and black belt testing in November. The day wrapped up with a review of tuite requirements; sharpening skills and building camaraderie.

Shoutout to our Tyler crew in attendance: Sensei Nathan, Sensei Mike, Senpai Sarah, Senpai Sam, as well as Maddie and Zach for representing with focus and determination!

What an incredible day of learning!

Yesterday, Sensei Nathan and Senpai Sarah had the honor of training with one of the most respected martial artists in the world; the legendary G**o Dan Inosanto.

We dove into an amazing variety of arts and concepts:

Thai Boxing fundamentals and flow

Jeet Kune Do trapping and close-range strategy

Savate kicking principles

A whirlwind of weapons training: single stick, double stick, stick & dagger, and even short staff tactics

The energy in the room was incredible, with friends old and new, all willing to share, help, and grow together. Truly a reminder that martial arts is not just about techniques, but about community, humility, and lifelong learning.

Huge thanks to G**o Dan for sharing his wisdom and to everyone who made the seminar such a fantastic experience.
