I don’t care what anyone thinks my kids don’t have a Christmas tree.
They didn’t have one last year, and they won’t have one in the years to come. They’re used to it, and they’re just fine.

I used to participate because I felt pressured. Not because it ever sat right with my spirit. I still made sure my kids were taken care of Christmas Eve trips to the store, letting them grab what they wanted, or ordering things after the fact. They never went without. But now, I’m done completely.

I refuse to train my children to believe this day is a necessity or an obligation.

I’m pulling my kids out of a traditional system that keeps families in debt, comparison, anxiety, and depression. Buying your children gifts on Christmas does not make you the parent of the year. And not being able to buy gifts does not make you a bad parent. That lie has damaged too many homes.

What matters right now is teaching our children things that actually protect them:
• What’s being done to our food and our bodies
• The chemicals in everyday products
• The influence of music, media, and television
• The reality that America will not look the same in the coming years

Let’s talk about the origins of these holidays and how many of them were established in pagan worship including New Year’s celebrations that revolve around excess, drunkenness, and false beginnings.

I will not teach my children to believe in Santa or attach joy, identity, or worth to a manufactured tradition. And I will not tell them this is the day Jesus was born when Scripture does not support that. Taking children out of deception is not “taking away their childhood.” Protecting them is parenting.

Many childhoods are already being stolen through violent media, hypersexual music, and constant distraction but people draw the line at questioning Christmas.

Some are awake. Some are still asleep. Either way, I’m not stressing over a holiday.

If you didn’t buy your kids anything, don’t let shame touch you. Make hot cocoa. Put on worship music. Talk with your children. Let them express how they feel about life, about the world, about you as a parent. Teach them who God is, how He has carried your family, and why gratitude matters more than gifts.

For us, it’s just another day and one fully devoted to God, not tradition.
