Howey Homestead

One month since our merge with Oxford Family Farms FL and making the decision to turn our retail barn into a place of production for our organically grown teas, as well as processing all of our goat 🐐 milk 🥛 products. This space offers a dark, climate controlled place to store our freeze dried foods as well since all of these farm products stay at peak freshness this way.
Since our 5th annual Open House this past spring where we welcomed around 90 folks onto our private permaculture farm, we haven’t held any workshops or classes. This is for several reasons.
First we’ve been training a full time animal caretaker 🤠to take over all poultry 🐔 and livestock 🐐 husbandry. What a huge help this has been to me! Although, he likes to stay off of all things social media, it’s really allows him to free me up to focus more on this exciting merge and he’s also busy creating more nourishing beds for our fruit bearing trees as well as growing out our biggest watermelon 🍉production thus far amongst our organic tea ☕️ pasture.
Closing the loop of inputs has always been the goal and the cycling of goat 🐐 and chicken 🐓 waste 💩combined with our summer rains has truly boosted our harvest as well as keeping their bedding areas more clean 🧹
Our daughter, who’s been by our side these past 5 plus years, has trained me in label making and Canva software app, so this frees her up to work full time on her own business……which means I get to spend the summer with our 4 grandchildren!
We are still having weekly farm pickups, including ALL of our wonderful handmade and homegrown products still offered on our website. Www.howeyhomestead.com. We are also making weekly drops at Oxford Family Farms and are meeting with some other local folks who’ve asked to carry some of our farm offerings as well. It’s an exciting time for a small business as folks truly have shown great support for our little homestead since day one and we’ve been so grateful for the Lords favor in all areas as we age and notice the need to pivot to a more educational approach to what we do here……perhaps, opening up workshops again in the upcoming fall.
