we have two Ancona chicks!!!!! 2 hatched and where running around the yard with mom, so the remaining eggs got put under Princess our Cochin bantam who is sitting on her eggs, and Sara's (OEG) eggs and one large fowl egg

Reminder for the heat wave.......
Its going to be a hot one....dont forget about the furry and feathered ones. Chickens DO NOT do well in heat. Change water often on hot days. If you cant be there to monitor them, then make sure there are extra water stations for them, fill them with with ice cubes put the waterers in the shade, frozen fruits and veggies for the chickens, soak the ground with soaker hoses....chickens are smart they will find the shade if they have some, Even frozen filled plastic soda bottles. Freeze them solid and put them around the chicken yard. they will sit on them to cool down. If by chance you see a chicken in distress from the heat pick them up, put their little feet in cool water slowly and cool them off that way. They cool fast if their feet are in water (cool water not ice water).

Now for the DUH part: Dont leave kids or pets in a car thats just stupid. And if its to hot outside for you, bring that dog inside the house, no dog should live its life outside, I see no reason for it.
Take care of the creatures you are responsible for and if you know someone that just for some reason isnt smart enough to do so, or physically cant....help them out. Not for the persons sake but for the animals sake.

we have 4 broody hens now.....2 of the bantams are sitting on eggs. Princess our Buff Cochin is sitting on 3 of her own so I just slipped 1 of the OEG eggs under her and the Ancona has been sitting on 13 eggs (both hers and the other hen that is in the trio area with her). My two large foul that are broody will sit on anything (including door k***s, golf balls and rocks) so they get tossed out of the nest box everytime I collect eggs)
