Welcome back to Question of the Week! This week's question is...

What makes you want to pick up a book?

Amanda: "There are a variety of factors that make me want to pick up a book. What's the genre? Do I know the author? Does the cover look interesting? What about the characters? What about the synopsis? Do I have time to read it in between the other books on my TBR pile (and, if not, am I willing to forgo all the other books that are waiting for me just for this one)? The answers to these usually have to be more yes than no for me to pick something up, but I have been known to break that rule on occasion. Characters, synopsis, and genre typically hold more weight than the rest, but the cover matters a lot, too. If the book doesn't hit at least 3 out of 4 on those, then I'm more likely to pass it up."

Now it's your turn! We look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome back to Question of the Week! This week's question is...

Are there any books you can read over and over again and never get bored?

Kendrick: "While there is not a set number of titles that I can list that I can read repeatedly and still enjoy, there is a certain type of book that I find myself returning to, though not for the reason that one might think. I am most likely to return to a book if it has had some kind of either emotional or cognitive impact on me in the past, like an ending that really stuck with me for a long while after finishing it, for example. However, I do not return to these titles with the expectation that I will enjoy them just as much as the first time or that I will get the same message from them. When I reread them, it is usually to compare my current thoughts, beliefs, and reactions to the content to those that I had when I read it previously. In addition, I try to parse out any potential foreshadowing that may have gone unnoticed during the first read through, and am often surprised at how much I missed. I tend to do this in hopes that better understanding how and why I missed it will make me better aware of and better able to identify foreshadowing in the future. So, while overall there aren’t any specific titles that I could read over and over again without becoming bored, there are plenty that I will reread at least a few times for thorough understanding because they left some kind of unfinished imprint in my memory that was itching to be completed."

Now it's your turn! We look forward to hearing from you!
