I've been doing a bunch of dash cams lately. Most of the dash cams I install have the front facing camera and the rear facing camera separate. So it's hard wired back to the rear so it can see out the rear window easily. Most dash cams are hardwired to enable the parking mode. With the the way things are nowadays it's better to have a dash cam recording all the time when you're driving. I know I have personally got out of it at least one ticket just because of my dash camera, and have captured a couple accidents that I wasn't even involved with. LOL also these systems are very good if you're a Rideshare driver like Lyft or Uber. There are camera systems that face the rear passengers as well.
