I had to file for bankruptcy.
My first big business idea failed.
It was an e-commerce store, I wanted it to be the Canadian version of Colette (where the cool Parisians went for art, music, and fashion).
Here’s why...
- Spent all the money in the wrong places
- bought way too much inventory
- paid upfront
- sold remaining seasonals at an extreme discount
- failed to build demand
- didn’t have a marketing plan 🤦♀️ (I was building something so cool, of course, people will come right? WRONG)
Soon, there was no more money to invest in the business
And I saw no way out except to declare bankruptcy.
I would sleep in until 3 - 4pm, wake up feeling like s**t, maybe package a few orders, and sit there hoping that a new order would come in, get high, and play video games
At the time, I didn’t see a future - I had even thoughts about ending mine…
Everything changed once I really sat down and saw failure for what it was - a lesson to be learned, a blessing, a step towards your success.
I realized all the horrible things I would say to myself were just fabrications of my own poor mindset.
Without this experience, I wouldn’t have understood failure for what it was.
I wouldn’t have found success in multiple business ventures down the line.
So work on your own self-talk, self-love, and self-care.
Do the inner healing work to overcome setbacks.
There is no success story without you taking the time to level up a skill set & do deep inner healing (in whatever way works for you.)
In real-time, this came up recently because I caught myself feeling down and second-guessing before launching a brand new offer.
Even when I know it’s the best offer I have ever released after 17 years of being an entrepreneur.
Providing a full DFY sales team, implementing it into your business - without you ever having to be involved, while maintaining or doubling your profit guaranteed.
So it goes to show, these thoughts will come up again. I am still on a healing journey.
But when the black cloud hangs over your head again, you can still fearlessly go after what you want.

Have you ever felt like you're not living up to your potential? I know I have.
I wasted so much time avoiding failure and protecting my ego that I never fully gave my best.
But here's the truth: most people never reach their full potential because they're too afraid of failure or too concerned about their ego.
They never give it their all or push themselves to the limit because they're afraid of what might happen if they try and fail.
The reality is that success isn't always easy...
It requires hard work, dedication, and perseverance.
It means being willing to try and fail, and then try again until you succeed.
It means putting in the effort, even when it's not easy, and pushing past your limits.
So don't be afraid to give it your all.
Don't be afraid to fail, because failure is just an opportunity to learn and grow.
Don't let your ego hold you back from achieving your full potential.
Instead, embrace the challenge and push yourself to be the best version of yourself.
You might be surprised at what you can achieve when you give it your all.
Because you have nothing to lose.

The older I get the more I realize that it's the small things in life that count.
Like a random lunch date with my wife on the water in the sun on a weekday.
It's moment like these that bring me pure joy.
Yet before I would have my head down grinding and not even bothering to look up around me because it was more important to use every minute to make more money...
Then I'd often ask myself why am I so depressed and burnt out?
I had to kill the hustle culture to find happiness again. The whole notion that we have to work more to enjoy our life is ludicrous.
Money, power and fame is not sustainable for our humaness. We'll always want more.
And it's ok that you do want more just don't compromise yourself of these moments that make it all worth it.
When you can't enjoy what your hard work is offering you, you need to reassess your wants and needs.
Does the life you want even require you to hustle that hard or you're just doing what you think is right based on society expectations...?
We get all wrapped up around becoming a millionaire that we don't ask ourselves what we will do with the money... Then what is it all for?
Food for thought. Let me know if you agree? 👇🏼

I’m a bougee bitch, so I know I’m looking to spend a couple of hundred dollars on new shades that I been planning to get for a while.
I do what you do for shopping, check my usual stores out, try on a few pairs that might work until you put them on - only to try on a few more pairs.
I am not indecisive when it comes to decision making, but shades are one of those things where expectations vs reality can be widely different.
The sales person has been following me around, decided that I was probably more in a browsing mode than a buying mood, and went to give me some space while secretly keeping tabs.
When I finally put on a pair that looked nice, giving myself a do-over in the mirror, she APPEARED asking “What do you think?”
Ya okay, it’s nice… BUT idk. I told her the classic rejection, “I need to think about it”.
I know this, you know this, I’m not coming back. The value wasn’t what I was looking for a pair that looked just nice.
In fact, I wasn’t sure what I was looking for, but that nice looking pair just wasn’t it.
Then, I went to the next shop, saw two pairs and tried them on. Within five minutes, I dropped over a grand on both pairs. More than what I initially was thinking of spending…
So the point is - when prospects say “I need to think about it” what they are really saying is, “I don’t know how this helps me.”
It’s usually never about the price.
Be curious and find out what your prospect really needs even in cases when they don’t even know it, and show the value you provide.
After every no you receive, ask yourself what value could I have shown to seal the deal?
