Shower door hinges are not all the same! Some situations require a different approach with your hinges. Here the builder left no space for a standard shower door hinge. Standard hinges on a shower door use 4 screws for mounting the door to a wall. 2 inside and 2 outside. This means that the door cannot go out to the edge of your tile. This builder left no space for standard hinges so we knew we had to use offset hinges. Offset hinges allow us to mount the door to the furthest edge of your tile wall. They also have all the screws inside of the shower for a nice clean look externally. No exposed screw heads here!
Hinges also have weight and size limitations. Make sure whoever you talk to uses the correct hinge for your job. If your hinges are not the correct sizes, the door has a higher probability of slipping, sagging, and unfortunately breaking.

"When installing custom shower doors, our professionals look for an inward slope on your curb when measuring for your shower enclosure. We also look for proper door placement to prevent leaking. All showers are sealed with mildew-resistant silicone on any opening except where the door meets another panel of glass.

Plastic seals can be added at this location, although most customers prefer not to add this feature as it will limit the inside and outside swing of the door. A sweep is placed on the bottom of the door to help gather water, but it may drip when it opens.

To prevent leakage, water shouldn't be in direct contact with open spaces around the door. We also do not recommend rinsing your shower off with buckets of water or handheld shower heads."
