πΏ Agency Spotlight: Environmental Learning Center πΏ
A huge THANK YOU to the Environmental Learning Center for providing such an incredible pontoon boat experience for our Clinician Development Cohort brought to you by John's Island Community Service League! π€βοΈ
This unforgettable outing gave our clinicians the opportunity to connect with one another, experience the beauty of our local environment, and take a well-deserved moment to recharge. Investing in the well-being and professional growth of those who care for our community is so important, and experiences like these help strengthen relationships, inspire collaboration, and promote resilience.
We are grateful for community partners like the Environmental Learning Center who make opportunities like this possible. Thank you for your hospitality, beautiful setting, and commitment to enriching our community!
π We appreciate you and look forward to partnering again!

Meet Stella! π’
Stella came to the Environmental Learning Center from the North Carolina Arboretum, where staff believe she was abandoned after being kept as a pet. Although she's a Florida Box Turtle, she was found far from her native range.
If you look closely, you'll notice a small mark on the top of her shell. It's believed to be a tether mark from a chain that was once attached to keep her confined.
Box turtles spend their entire lives within about a one-mile home range. Moving one to a new location can prevent it from finding its way home and greatly reduce its chances of survival.
Because of her past, Stella cannot be released back into the wild. Instead, she now serves as an ambassador, helping us teach visitors why box turtles belong in the wild, not as pets.
Next time you visit, stop by and say hello to Stella, and help protect Floridaβs wildlife by letting wild turtles, stay wild π
