While we celebrate Haiti's historic achievement in competing in the World Cup, we are disappointed and outraged by FIFA’s forced uniform change to the Haitian team.

The original design featured a depiction of the final battle of the Haitian War of Independence in 1803, and was a beautiful homage to the strength and pride that defined Haiti then and now. The claim that the uniform was "too political" is an ignorant dismissal of the image's significance, and the history of Haiti as a whole.
