Today was such an honor.

Mike and I had the privilege of celebrating the retirement of Rev. Dr. Mark E. Whitlock, Jr. β€” Senior Pastor of Reid Temple AME β€” and Rev. Dr. Hermia β€œMia” Shegog-Whitlock, who served alongside him as Executive Pastor. Governor Wes Moore in the service for the occasion.

True partners. True servants. They did this together. πŸ’™

Dr. Mark was also appointed Honorary Commander at Joint Base Andrews. The call never retires. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I met the Whitlocks during one of the hardest seasons any of us lived through. They turned Reid Temple into a community health clinic during COVID β€” no barriers, no questions. I was leading Faith-Based Partnerships at CVS Health, and what grew between us was more than a program. It was a covenant of purpose. Together with CVS Health, Luminus Health and other incredible partners, we helped make sure people got what they needed most.

Dr. Mark shares inspiration weekly on with my husband ’s show β€” reaching 2.5M+ listeners with wisdom and the Word.

Congratulations, Rev. Dr. Mark and Rev. Dr. Mia. We love you! πŸ’™

Rev. Jesse Jackson [1941-2026]
Today, we mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Rev. Jesse Jackson, a tireless champion for civil rights and global human dignity.

Through his founding of Operation PUSH, Rev. Jackson opened doors for African Americans in corporate America and created new economic opportunities for the disenfranchised. He challenged companies to practice affirmative action and used the power of the boycott to demand justice.

As a presidential candidate in the 1980s, Rev. Jackson showcased the growing political influence of black voters while raising awareness about inequalities. Globally, Rev. Jackson was a voice for the oppressed, from Palestinians seeking self-determination to South Africans fighting the evil system of apartheid. He negotiated the release of hostages and pushed for peace from the Middle East to Latin America.

While at times controversial, there is no denying the transformative impact of Rev. Jackson's activism and leadership. As we bid him farewell, let us recommit to his vision of social justice, equality and human dignity for all.

Rest in power, Rev. Jackson.
