Maryurie and her husband were elated when they welcomed their son, Jothsan, into the world. The Healthy Beginnings Program at her local church had trained and equipped this first-time mom to care for her newborn's health and well-being.

A few months after Jothsan's healthy birth, at the same time that the family began to struggle making ends meet, Maryurie developed a medical condition that prevented her from breastfeeding her son.

When Jothsan was identified as malnourished during the routine health assessments at the church, the family immediately began receiving supplemental meals for their home.

The donated meals helped the family reduce their expenses and allowed them to buy other foods that increased their overall nutrition and varied their diets. In addition to restoring Jothsan's health, the meals provided Javier, a health care worker, with a strengthened immune system during the peak of coronavirus cases.

Through her experience, Maryurie has learned that God is a provider in all circumstances and uses His people to bless others. She says,

"One day I hope to help other families just as we have been helped."

Even in the most adverse circumstances, Maryurie persists after her educational dreams so that her family can have a better future.

Each Christmas we rejoice and thank God for the gift of his son Jesus; He will always be our weary world's thrill of hope.
