Good morning, Hampton Roads!
I just wrapped up a project that’s a bit different from my usual work—and one I truly enjoyed from start to finish. A great client reached out with a vision to transform an unused 24' x 24' detached garage into a fully functional ADU (accessory dwelling unit), complete with a recreation room, office, kitchenette, and full bathroom.

This project took a few months of planning and coordination—working closely with my designer on the plans, collaborating with the City of Virginia Beach to secure all proper permits, and teaming up with an interior designer to bring the space to life. From there, we moved into 11 weeks of intensive construction.

We brought the structure down to bare framing and completely reworked the interior. The existing concrete had to be removed to install underground plumbing and utilities, followed by slab insulation and a v***r barrier to control ground moisture. We then poured a new 4" concrete slab and completed the block work. The exterior was fully updated with a new roof, siding, energy-efficient Low-E windows, and a new door before moving into the interior build-out.

Inside, the space features a large custom walk-in closet in the office for ample storage, detailed custom trim work throughout, solid wood cabinetry and vanity, quartz countertops, a custom 200-amp electrical service, and a 1.5-ton heat pump system. There’s even a dedicated space for an under-counter all-in-one washer and dryer combo.

At just 576 square feet, this ADU lives much larger than its footprint—and stands as a great example of what’s possible with thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to take on this challenge and work with such an incredible client.

Just had a chance to do this one for my friend Danny Fair. Job consisted of removing old wooden deck and replacing it with a brick and stamped concrete patio, custom Azek covered porch and vinyl handrails. Opened up a large rear section of the roof and cut in a large dormer to create a additional bedroom. Replaced the roof shingles with GAF lifetime roof and wrapped all exterior wood in G8 trim coil with new seamless gutters and replace the front entry door with custom Azek trim package. Installed new garage doors and openers. Lastly we did a complete master bathroom remodel with custom tile work, shower, vessel tub, vanitys and granite tops. Here are a few before and after pictures.

This was a very quick build 39 days from digging the footing to occupancy final inspection. Two bedroom, one full bath, large storage closet @ approximately 500 sq. ft. and 12x12 pressure treated deck.

Just finished this kitchen remodel up a few weeks back and what HUGE change! I always like working with clients that are understanding of the construction process especially when they understand all the challenges, material delays, that it takes a lot of pre-planning and time to deliver a remodel of this caliber. I truly loved working with the owners Mike, Tiffany and the coolest little lab pup named "shadow". Pictures speak for them self but when I say we "opened up" this space literally every wall was taken out to give them the kitchen and space that worked for them.
