What nobody tells you about running small family-owned e-commerce brands with your spouse is that you can rarely go 15 minutes without talking about work.

This was within minutes of me coming downstairs this morning.

Before coffee.
Before breakfast.
Before my brain was fully online.

Brad was already giving me an update on our new customer acquisition numbers.

The funny thing is that neither of us is complaining.

We genuinely love what we do.

We love and believe in our brands. We love our customers. We love building things, solving problems, dreaming up new ideas, and finding ways to do things better.

But when your business serves customers all over the world, it never really sleeps.

Sometimes one of us is looking for a sounding board.

Sometimes we're looking for validation.

Sometimes we're looking for inspiration.

Sometimes we're just thinking out loud.

And before you know it, you're discussing marketing, customer feedback, inventory, product development, or growth for the fifteenth time that day.

It's incredible to care this much about what you do.

But it also takes a toll.

Because eventually you realize your spouse isn't just your spouse anymore. They're also your business partner, your sounding board, your strategist, your cheerleader, and the person you call when you need to work through an idea.

Sometimes I think every entrepreneur couple needs a standing rule:

24 hours. No business talk allowed.

Just one day to be husband and wife.
