Conversations with Bear

Daddo here - in the 6 years since Capt.Squishy Face came to live with us I think he’s ventured upstairs maybe a dozen times, total. Yesterday he took his magical 13th trip…….

Bear - hey daddo, whatcha doing?
Me - excuse me sir, what are you doing up there?
Bear - helping Mom.
Me - I’m willing to bet you’re not.
Bear - I’m providing a protective wall of floof.
Me - from what?
Bear - you never know, do you?
Me - on this one I kind of do.
Bear - you know the view from up is really something.
Me - don’t get used to it big boy, you’re a single story house pony,

And with that Bear turned on his paws and ran down the hall to find Mom. The last thing I heard was him featuring the benefits of a two story doggo. I truly wasn’t that worried though because Bear’s dining trough was down by the kitchen and the dinner bell would be ringing before long. He’s been a very good boy this week so I look forward to some serious puppy snuggle time over the weekend. In fact, on behalf of the Bear, feel free to puppy snuggle where ever you are. Daddo here - Day 5 of the Capt Squishy Face/Velvet Potato Summer Camp Extravaganza! Let’s do the math….. Bear + Roxy = 8 legs, 2 tails, unlimited appetites, 2 destroyed toys, nearly unlimited treatos, piles of Bear Glitter(extra because of the hot weather), aggressive Roxy snuggle love and last but not least; a BearForceOne shuttle for two. And it’s only Wednesday!

While there is much that needs to be discussed besides the aforementioned, I shall leave you with some pictures of today’s early morning road trip to daycare. I cannot thank Ms. Lauren and the rest of the Barkyard’s crew enough for taking such good care of the “kids” and myself this past week. I’m not the fastest started in the morning but once these two get out of the car it’s all go. As crazy as it’s been around Casa de Floof lately, I have taken time each day to appreciate how wonderful and loving these two hairballs truly are. I may not always say that when they’re borking their arses off at 3am but that’s a small price to pay for their unconditional love. So from the Captain and the Potato, Happy Wednesday everyone!

Daddo here - the Captain of Squish and I took a hard fought, well deserved rest day today, with each of us trying to outdo the other in the World Cup of laziness. One active portion of our day occurred with the presentation of the treato Bear was promised for completing a trifecta of daycare……

Me - oh Fire Bear!
Bear - did we get a call? Are we rolling thunder?
Me - we are both officially off duty for the day but I need your help.
Bear - will this be pre or post nap assistance?
Me - I feel like this might be something ongoing.
Bear - do tell, the Fire Bear is at the ready.
Me - I have a special mascot I’d like to introduce you too and it needs a name.
Bear - oooh, for me?
Me - this lil squeaky fuzz nugget is your treato for being such a trooper, enjoy.
Bear - best day ever but I have one request.
Me - and what might that be?
Bear - I don’t have to share my new special toy with Roxy, do I?

And with that I squeezed a squeak out of the fire duck in an effort to distract the resident house pony from the fact that Roxy was coming for an extended sleepover starting tomorrow night. Due to work schedules and familial vacations, Roxy would be hanging out at her home away from home (meaning us) for the next week or so. I have stocked up on replacement toys and extra milk bones in anticipation of Casa de Floof becoming a canine mosh pit for the few days. Daddo here - While my job has been beyond hectic this past week, it was Bear that put the most work. Capt.Squishy Face pulled a trifecta shift at daycare, 3 days in a row. Seeing as how the temperatures have climbed and the pool was open, Bear needed very little encouragement to spend 3 days at “summer camp.”

Me - you look exhausted my friend.
Bear - it’s been a full slate of activities this week.
Me - I hope you’re pacing yourself.
Bear - I’ve learned to self regulate…..a good soak, a little play and then some chill time in the “Captians Hut.”
Me - oooh, is that what you call it?
Bear - more like my summer home away from home.
Me - it also looks like a good place to let the floof dry out.
Bear - yeah, too bad the Olympics aren’t around the corner, I’m in top sponge form.

And with that we loaded up into BearForceOne 3.0 and headed for home. It didn’t take long for my boy to have a snack and lay down for a short snoozer. A restful weekend has been planned for the Majestic Flooofer, along with a special treato for being such a trooper and completing the grueling daycare trifecta. Daddo here - Bear manned the entrance to the Audrey's Barkyard parking lot this morning, taking in all the sights and sounds……

Me - what’s with the serious face bud?
Bear - it’s called focus, getting my game face on.
Me - do we actually need a game face today?
Bear - I took yesterday off so I’m ready to get in there.
Me - daycare? Am I missing something here?
Bear - as an O.G at the ‘Yard I have lots of responsibilities.
Me - pace yourself Hondo, it’s going to be hot today.
Bear - if it gets hot, I hop in the pool and soak up some coolant and get back out there.
Me - don’t you just lay in the pool and become a sponge?
Bear - sponge training, bathing or lounging. The pool of many uses.

And with that we trotted up to the front desk to get him checked in. His food was dropped off and before I knew it he was spinning his way down the hallway, off on another Barkyard adventure that is bound to leave him a tired puppy by pick up time.
