Today we recognize and celebrate Juneteenth, the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and commemorates the moment when freedom finally reached the last enslaved Americans in Texas on June 19, 1865.

Juneteenth is an important reminder that freedom, equality, and justice are ideals that require continual effort and commitment. It is a day to reflect on our nation’s history, honor the resilience and contributions of Black Americans, and recognize the progress that has been made while acknowledging the work that still remains.

By learning from our past, we can continue building stronger, more inclusive communities for future generations.
