Last month, House Beautiful published an article titled "Renovate or Move: What Real Estate Experts Want You to Know." It got me thinking because this is a conversation we have with homeowners all the time.

Here are six things they suggest considering:

🏡 Inventory: If you're moving, can you actually find a home that checks your boxes? And remember—you'll likely be buying and selling.

📍 Location: Love your neighborhood, schools, and nearby amenities? Remodeling might make more sense than starting over.

💰 Cost: Buying has more predictable costs, but if you've built equity, a home equity loan can be a great way to finance improvements.

🚧 Living through construction: I'll admit I'm biased on this one! We've lived through several remodels, and with good planning, it's absolutely manageable.

📈 Return on investment: Not every project needs to maximize resale value. If you create a space you genuinely enjoy every day, that's a pretty great return too.

❤️ Quality of life: If your new kitchen makes you smile every morning, or your remodeled space means more family dinners and entertaining, that's a win.

There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer. The "right" choice depends on your home, your finances, and your goals.
