Kid Who Stole The Show

It's always a joy to see young kids come to volunteer at our events. Recently, a volunteer brought his son, Talha, who is almost 6 years old. Little Talha was everywhere, sorting and unloading donations, pushing boxes, grabbing aid, and offering it to the wildfires impacted folks. Of course, his favorite role was offering cookies and toys to other kids but he had fun in everything, sometimes even carrying things as big as himself! We are glad to see the zeal of service being passed down and taught to the next generation.

Humanity from Ashes-

Life throws things at you totally unexpected. At the start of this year, some of the Greater Los Angeles areas erupted in blazing wildfires. We shifted our energy towards relief efforts. The fires have no doubt brought people together and it has been a beautiful thing to see. The rising of humanity from the ashes. People from near and far, from all backgrounds, came to help. Just as INSAN's founder, Dr. Syed Hasan, strived to see.

It has also been a humbling reminder that we all are so vulnerable and within minutes we can lose everything. When a calamity happens, it doesn't differentiate who you are, impacting old and young alike, rich and poor, no matter your race. In minutes we saw how one could become homeless.

Therefore we should always care about those around us and give to those in need when we can.

It's going to be a long journey for those impacted and the need will be for a while. INSAN is working with other partners on how to help the victims in their next transitional phases.

More than 15,000 structures were destroyed, close to 200,000 people displaced (without a home - almost homeless), and 28 confirmed loss of life. These fires are the most destructive in LA history which has charred an area bigger than the city of Paris.

We pray for the safety of everyone. We all live in tinderboxes and may God protect all of us.

People have not only lost their homes, but everything in it. Things from their daily lives, their memories, and in some cases their incomes. This takes a toll physically and financially, but also emotionally. It's especially hard on the young kids and elderly.

INSAN has been assisting in the relief effort for the past two and half weeks at various sites. It has also been overwhelming to see the good of humanity in action. People from all walks of life have been stepping up, some from an hour drive, bringing donations which are being distributed to fire victims.

The Best of Humanity-
Witnessing humanity at its best has been so inspirational. No one is caring or asking who you are or who you voted for. People from all ages, races, denominations need help and people from all backgrounds have been there for them. Despite the negativity all around us, it shows how much potential we have together to lift others, build better societies and a caring world. It has been a remarkable experience and we at INSAN have been honored and humble to be a part of it.

How You Can Help Now -
Impacted families are depending on critical aid and we need your support and donations to continue our relief work. Since we can distribute these items based on demand (it varies each day at each site), the best way is to DONATE for our LA Wildfires Relief so we can try to fill the gaps.

Future Need
The process of relief, recovery, and rebuilding is going to be a long one. We are already working with other partners on how we can help people navigate the next transitional phases.
