On this night in 2001 hundreds of men and women spent time with their families and friends for the last time.

These men and women had no idea that the very next morning shortly after beginning their shift they would give the ultimate sacrifice and die while trying to save others. These men and women have set an example for all of us who do the same jobs today.

We can only hope that we all will do our jobs selflessly and to the best of our abilities in honor of those who gave their lives as well as their families.
