We recently held our 18th MBCA Minuteman Section Open House/Tech Session. Despite the Spring weather that has been reluctant to show itself, we had the best turnout in years! Plenty of different models of our favorite marque. Each member was given 15 minutes of lift time with a technician to learn about and inspect their vehicle. Door prizes were fun and provided by EAS, Archive, and Mercedes-Benz of Westwood. "Member of the Year 2025" was posthumously awarded to our team member Tom Owen who passed in 2025. The award was received by EAS team members Ed Owen (son) and Denton Owen (grandson). Thank you to all the participants, club members, and the talented staff of EAS for a great event!

'THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE'
The BMW E30 was the second generation of the famed BMW 3-Series and was produced from 1982 to 1994, replacing the E21 3-Series. Development of the E30 began in July 1976, with styling developed under chief designer Claus Luthe and exterior styling led by Boyke Boyer. In 1978, the final design was approved and in 1979 was designated with a design freeze. What is a design freeze? It is the critical project milestone where after initial planning and approvals, no further major changes are allowed for specific design elements to ensure stability. BMW's launch film for the E30 showed the design process that included cutting edge Computer-Aided Design (CAD), crash testing, and wind-tunnel testing. The car was released in the end of November of 1982 and went on to become an icon of the 80's.
New to the EAS collection is this 1986 E30 325e, featured in Bronzit Beige Metallic (139) with 66k original miles. Drivetrain features the 2.7 Liter engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The "e" is taken from "eta", the Greek letter for efficiency. The efficiency-focused model features the inline-six engine (M20B27) designed for high torque at low RPM, offering a comfortable cruising experience with superior fuel economy for its time.
