Inspired Design Talk
Interior designer + 28-year homeowner sharing real renovation lessons from living in the same home for nearly three decades.
This one might be a little controversial... 😊
I would never buy a matching furniture set for my living room.
Instead, I build the room piece by piece using a floor plan, mood board, and inspiration images. Mixing furniture from different stores, finishes, and textures is what gives a room personality and makes it feel collected instead of looking like a furniture showroom.
Save this before decorating your living room, and follow along because next we're talking about layered lighting—the jewelry of the room.

Your sofa is usually the biggest furniture investment you’ll make.
Before you buy one…
Choose it first.
Add it to your mood board and make sure it works with the rest of your room before you invest.
In Episode 5 of my Living Room Design series, I’m sharing the five things I always consider before choosing a sofa.
✔️ How you’ll use it
✔️ Measuring your space
✔️ Choosing the right size
✔️ Matching your design style
✔️ Investing in quality
Planning first helps you avoid expensive decorating mistakes.
Save this post for your next furniture shopping trip, and follow along for Episode 6 where we’ll choose the supporting furniture that brings the room together.
