The City Administration is often tasked with monumental undertakings that require months of planning in addition to legal work. A group asking to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and other fresh produce on a vacant parcel, in the middle of a neighborhood, is not one of them. Looking forward to seeing the neighbors of this garden reap from the harvest of this wise and plentiful initiative!

After months of delays and stalled negotiations, the Warren City Council is proud to announce a major victory for our community.

Through persistence, collaboration, and a commitment to protecting an important neighborhood asset, Council successfully negotiated a lease agreement with Urban Seed for the South Warren Community Garden. Last night, Council voted unanimously to approve the lease, securing the future of this valuable community resource.

This agreement represents far more than just a lease. It preserves a space that provides fresh food access, promotes beautification, strengthens neighborhoods, and brings residents together. The South Warren Community Garden has become an important part of our community, and this unanimous vote reflects Council’s dedication to supporting sustainable, community-driven initiatives.

We are proud to have helped move this process forward and deliver real results for South Warren residents. When leaders come together in good faith and remain focused on solutions, meaningful progress is possible.

This is a win for residents, a win for community partnerships, and a win for Warren.
