Explore the intersection of nature and needlework. In this focused workshop, artist Molly Smith guides you through the creation of a "Specimen Sampler"—a collection of intricate insects brought to life through thread.

From the iridescence of a beetle’s shell to the delicate veins of a wing, you’ll learn how to translate biological textures into textile art. This class is designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike, offering a calm environment to master foundational and decorative stitches.

What’s Provided:
A 6" to 8" embroidery hoop
An original "Insect Study" design on templated fabric
Examples of Molly’s professional work for reference

3rd Thursday of the Month FREE FILM NIGHT
THE HITCH-HIKER AND NOWHERE COAST

All the info and to grab a seat! https://www.thecollaborative02885.org/eventlistings/filmnightjune2026

We’re setting the mood with local film, Nowhere Coast . Written and directed by Michael Ahern. Featuring local actors Brandon Perras-Sanchez and Michael Rigney. A man visits his ex-lover, who is allegedly suffering from symptoms of early-onset dementia.

Then onto our Feature film with The Hitch-Hiker - Directed by Ida Lupino (notable as the only classic film noir directed by a woman). Based on the true-life murder spree of Billy Cook, it follows two friends (Edmond O'Brien and Frank Lovejoy) who pick up a psychotic drifter (William Talman) during a fishing trip in Mexico. He holds them hostage in their own car, forcing them to drive toward the coast while terrorizing them with a sinister eye affliction—one of his eyes remains open even when he sleeps.

Behind the Scenes: Ida Lupino actually visited the real-life killer, Billy Cook, in San Quentin State Prison to interview him before making the film, ensuring the terrifying "open-eye" detail and Myers' unhinged persona remained chillingly accurate to the true crime spree.

We’ll have light refreshment & popcorn
