To start, Huxley is okay. I took my camera out while I was walking into the pasture because I thought he was taking a nap and that I would capture a sweet moment, but then quickly realized he fell over and couldn’t get up 💔 When I threw my phone down at the end I grabbed him and popped him right onto his feet. He’s now back to eating with his friends and received an extra dose of pain meds 😞 This has been happening more often due to Huxley’s severe osteoarthritis that he developed from being neglected for the first 10 years of his life at Johnson Park Animal Haven in Middlesex County, NJ. He is very comfortable, appears to be pain free for the most part, but he’s not great on legs and sometimes doesn’t have the strength to get himself back up, which isn’t safe or comfortable. Thinking about winter approaching brings about unsettling fear and anxieties because just like humans, cold weather is hard on him. We’ve been VERY strict, as always, about making sure he’s getting enough calories and around the clock meds and supplements to keep his care plan consistent so he can be as pain free as possible. Spring… hurry up. Huxley loves our big cherry tree and I can’t wait to watch him sit underneath it again with a big pain-free smile on his face 🌸 This video was important for us to share for educational purposes to show the realities of caring for animals who have been abused. We have since campaigned against the zoo, and Johnson Park Animal Haven, as well as Merrill Park and Thompson Park, the other zoos in Middlesex County, NJ, have permanently closed and animals have been released to sanctuary. #Ram #Sheep #Animal #Farm
