🏡 Important Rhode Island Property Tax Update

Starting July 1, 2026, new rules are in effect for certain residential properties assessed at more than $1 million.

If you're buying or selling an affected property, sellers may need to obtain a Certificate of No Tax Due from the Rhode Island Division of Taxation before closing and should allow at least 10 business days for the process.

Even sellers who qualify for an exemption may still need to request the certificate.

📌 Important: The property's assessed value, not the purchase price, is what triggers the requirement.
