The Mayor unveiled a $19.5b budget yesterday, a big increase over last year's budget. We have the resources and means to end poverty in the District now. We can create education equity and housing equity. This budget is not geared towards creating education equity and housing equity, towards ending poverty and homelessness.
I presented at the Capitol Hill Village Monday night about health disparities in DC. We have to deal with these inequities head-on, not small pieces—housing, health, poverty and income, business and equitable development and education.
