EMS Call Upgraded to HazMat with Victim Decon

Mooresville, NC - Mooresville FD and Iredell County EMS were dispatched to an industrial facility for a report of difficulty in breathing.

Crews arrived and found a small “beaker sized amount” of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide had been mixed resulting in off-gassing.
Employees reportedly attempted to dilute the mixture prior to responders arriving.

Multiple patients reportedly received decontamination and treatment on-scene.

Picric Acid Donated to Museum Brings Bomb Squad

Hernando County, FL - Museum staff found the bottle of picric while sorting through old donated medical supplies that were donated to the museum. The bottle appeared to date back to the late 1800s or early 1900s. Responders reportedly noticed a small amount of crystals in the bottle.
