Meet Dan and Linda, our volunteers of the month! Dan and Linda have been married for 55 years! The duo has been volunteering for over 20 years and have collectively volunteered over 5,040 hours.
When asked why they volunteer their time to end hunger and why hunger-relief is important to them they said, “Growing up, we did not come from middle class families. We [are] here to give back. We came from food insecurity. We stretched a can of salmon to feed the nine of us.”
They also said, “The average volunteer lives 4 years longer than those that don't. Here you develop a whole new social network outside of your church or neighbor's. It gets you out of your comfort zone, you make lots of lifelong friends.”
