That giant feather shake isn’t random. 🪶

When Jackie, Shadow, Sandy, or Luna suddenly puff up and shake their whole body, they’re doing something called a rouse.

It looks like a quick burst of fluff, but it has a job. The motion helps feathers loosen, reset, and fall back into place after flying, feeding, resting, or moving around the nest.

For bald eagles, feathers aren’t decoration. They help with warmth, waterproofing, balance, and flight.

The Big Bear nest briefly looked like a family sitcom. 😂

Jackie was up close on camera, Shadow was posted in the background, and Sandy and Luna were stretched out in the nest like the kids had taken over the living room.

Nothing dramatic had to happen. That was the charm.

Just one perfectly framed family moment from the Jackie and Shadow nest, complete with supervision, side-eye, and a little “dad confessional” energy in the background.
