SOUTHEAST CHILDREN’S FUND CELEBRATES TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!

May 5–9, 2025

This week, we proudly recognize and honor the incredible teachers who shape the minds, hearts, and futures of our children every single day. At Southeast Children’s Fund, we know that teachers are more than educators — they are mentors, advocates, caregivers, and changemakers.

We celebrate:
• Their dedication to fostering a love of learning in every child.
• Their creativity in designing engaging and meaningful experiences.
• Their resilience in facing challenges with passion and grace.
• Their unwavering commitment to nurturing the potential of each young learner.

To every teacher in our community: THANK YOU for the countless hours, the big and small victories, and the difference you make in the lives of children and families. You are the heart of early childhood education, and we are grateful for your impact every day.

Let’s join together this week to celebrate and uplift the amazing educators who inspire, empower, and pave the way for brighter futures!

Today, Southeast Children’s Fund honors D.C. Emancipation Day—a pivotal moment in history that represents freedom, resilience, and progress.

On April 16, 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Compensated Emancipation Act, freeing over 3,000 enslaved people in Washington, D.C.—nine months before the Emancipation Proclamation.

As we reflect on this day, we reaffirm our commitment to equity, education, and empowerment for our children, families, and community. Let’s continue to build a future rooted in justice and hope.
