Access to independent learning remains a barrier for visually impaired learners in Kenya.
Today, that gap is narrowing. In partnership with Google, Thika School for the Blind received 125 Chromebooks for learners and 24 laptops for teachers, embedding the technology that enables independent study, research, and collaboration.

For learners, the Chromebooks provide access to screen readers and assistive technologies that support reading, research, collaboration and independent learning. They ensure a seamless transition from junior to senior school, so students build on skills instead of starting over. Those capabilities carry into university, into work, and into lives learners direct themselves.

For teachers, the laptops strengthen lesson preparation, instruction and access to digital teaching resources.

"This support creates a more level playing field for our learners," said Principal Grace Kiarie. "It gives them equitable access to quality education and the opportunities that follow."
