I commend Derrick Coleman for taking a principled stand against Alabama's efforts to suppress Black representation. Our state cannot celebrate Black men on the playing field while denying them a voice in our democracy.
We in Alabama have worked for decades to move beyond the stigma of our painful past. The rush to silence Black voters threatens to reverse that progress and put our state back on the wrong side of history.
