Offer for Current AU Students!
You are invited to participate in a photography project coordinated by AU's Center for Diversity & Inclusion, to be displayed at the summer undergraduate orientation program's diversity session (for new US and international students). We are looking for individuals who are willing to be photographed for a slideshow of students, staff, and faculty posing with their 6 word story and the place(s) they call home.
The 6-word story requires you to choose 6 words that pertain to your own identity; it can be a visible identity or invisible identity that someone wouldn't necessarily know about you from looking at you. For example, a colleague suggested that she could use "First in family to graduate college" or "Biker, Runner, Repair Woman, NoTV." The point is to say something creative about yourself and to have fun. Every one of you has an interesting and multi-layered identity - this is a fun opportunity to reflect on it and choose how you would describe yourself.
The second part is for you to write the place(s) you call home and include one place at AU. For example, one person wrote "Connecticut, Boston, DC, and the Center for Diversity & Inclusion."The purpose of this photo is to showcase the diversity of "homes" the AU community has to offer.
Photographs will also be taken on Thursday April 24th between 1-5pm, room TBD and at the Center for Diversity and Inclusion's Study Break on Tuesday April 29th between 2-5pm in MGC 200. Individuals who are interested in being photographed for one of these dates must RSVP to Tracey Livingston in the Center for Diversity and Inclusion at [email protected] no later than Monday April 21. Please create your 6-word story in advance so its ready to go when we confirm your photograph appointment.
If you have any questions please email Tracey directly - [email protected].
Feel free to share this invitation with any friends who would be interested in participating.
Thank you in advance for being part of greeting the incoming class of 2018!
We hope your finals are going well!! Have a great summer everyone and don't forget to check back this Fall to join TALK!
